Q. When am I supposed to book the flight and who will pay?

After you apply your visa or you got the visa from the Korean consulate, you will need to book your ticket to Korea. The employee needs to buy the ticket first and the ticket will be reimbursed from the employer upon your arrival. So, you should keep all the provided information papers, invoice, and receipt for you to get a reimbursement from your employer. But In private academy, the employers often purchase a ticket by themselves. So if you have any financial difficulties to find your own flight, please discuss about it with your consultant. After you search your flight, please find out the cheaper tickets and let ACE Recruiter confirm the flight information. If you have any help to book the ticket, please let us know. We will be able to help you to find out cheap tickets. After, you got a confirmed your ticket, you will need to inform us the Flight number, Schedule, Arrival date and time specifically. ACE Career Consultant will arrange your pick-up schedule based on the information you gave to us.

Q. What is the medical certificate and how to get one?

There is a certain medical check form in Korea to be an employee at government office. The employee expects you to get a Medical Examination form which completed by your physician. The Medical Examination form include those subjects such as, Height / Weight / Chest / Blood pressure / Visual Acuity / Chest X-ray, Blood type / Hepatitis A,B / Immunization Record/ Eyes// Dental/Liver / Gastrointestinal / Cardiovascular / Genitor-urinary / Central Nervous System / Skin / Mental Health

As these cost a lot to get done these whole things in your country, you can simply present your self medical form which describes your mental and health conditions and get one done after you get in Korea. But the Self medical form also will be used as a prove letter of your health. So if you didn't mention anything in your self medical form and a serious health problem was found on your medical examination, your employment will be canceled, and the employer can decline to work with you.

Q. How to apply a visa in my country? Can you tell me about the Consulate information?

As soon as ACE Career Consulting Know the Visa Issuance Number, we will send it to you directly by email. After you got the Visa issuance number, you will need to write down the Visa issuance number to your application form. Then you can go to the Korean Consulate in your area.

We will email you more details such like what you should bring by email.

You can find out more specific information form the local Korean consulate. The time for the Visa proce consulate. Though, normally it takes about 2~3 weeks. 

Q. I am currently residing in Korea, and do not have any plan to go to my country, where can I go to get my new E2 visa?

If you are not planned to go back to your country or due to the time schedule you will have to get a visa in a short time frame, then you can visit Japan.

Q. Will anyone be at the Airport?

ACE Career Consulting is working with a Van company in Incheon Airport. The Drivers will wait at the airport with the picket on your name. As soon as they meet you, they will call your ACE Career Consultant to speak with you directly. ACE Career Consulting will arrange to have your housing prepared and someone will meet you there unless it is very early morning or late at night. Please collect all your bags and you'd better exchange some money at the airport even though you will get paid your settlement pay. Please make sure you can carry some cash with you, there are sometimes not being able to use your foreign visa card. If you can book your flight on time, you can go to the Orientation place directly.

Q. How is Training process?

If you got hired in school, you will have to get an Orientation or Training before you start new job. The Orientation or Training takes about a week. So you will have to consider that training time as well.

Q. How to get an Alien registration Card?

Your Alien Registration Card, or ARC card, is a form of official ID that the Korean government requires all non-Korean citizens working in Korea to obtain and carry on their person at all times. One of your next trips (to be arranged by your school) will be to go to your local Immigration office to get this card. 

Q. Do I have to send my original diploma to Korea?

Well, basically, No. Please send us after getting copy of your original diploma appostilled by the secretary of state.

Q. How much does it cost, I am interested in ACE Career Consulting's services?

All of our services are provided at absolutely NO COST to you. Actually, you should be highly suspicious of anybody asking fees of you. Especially beware of anybody trying to take a percentage of your salary. Native English Teachers are in such high demand in Korea, that recruiters receive their full fees from the schools.

Q. What if I have a bad boss, the apartment is terrible, I am sick and want to go home?

Breaking your contract is serious business but at the same time, you are not signing your life away. There are always options. Everybody goes through an initial adjustment period and it is difficult to find a person that has not seriously wondered if they've made a huge mistake in coming here.

If it's cultural/ emotional, let us know about it. We can help you deal with a lot of problems and can even guide you in finding professional help if need be. If something is seriously wrong at your school. You don't have to just leave in the middle of the night! You can talk to your school about your situation, and you can always talk to us.

If things are absolutely unbearable and you just cannot take it, follow the in your contract. Give the required notice and try to leave on the best terms possible. It is possible to get a different job in Korea, but there is a lot of paperwork and procedures that must be done.

If you leave before 3~6 months, you need to refund the school for your airfare.

That being said, if there is something criminal going on at your school or you feel in physical danger (extremely rare), of course you should never stay in that situation and immediately go to the police, labor board, immigration, etc. If you're not sure what to do, it's better to be safe than sorry, but you can always call us for advice as well.

Q. But seriously, I've never taught before. I am not sure I can do this.

If the thought of public speaking terrifies you, you have zero social skills and you don't know how to use an internet search engine, then you may be in trouble. Barring those extremes, thought, you will probably do just fine after the first few days. Many people have been quite surprised by just how well they take to the work and some even decide to make their career out of it. If you have the study and research skills and self-discipline it takes to earn a college degree, then you certainly have the inner recourses you'll need to teach English in Korea.

However, it is true that teaching isn't for everybody. If you truly don't like kids, then you really shouldn't teach in Korea unless you know your job is teaching adults. If you have problems such as depressions and anxiety, then you should have a conversation with your healthcare provider about how well you could cope. Living in a foreign country is stressful. Starting a new job is stressful. Being away from family and having to make a whole new set of friends is very stressful. All these stressors going on inside of you can really wear you down if you don't have some ways of coping. The good news is that you will most likely be able to find all your needed medications. Also, there are English speaking and western trained counselors, therapists and Priests of any number of denominations that can help your deal with hard times. You will have to do some research though. Once again, we can help you with the research.

Q. How can I get medical Insurance?

Your school employer will pay 50% of your medical insurance. Once you have a medical insurance card, you will be free to visit all

hospitals around Korea.

Q. My girlfriend or boyfriend dumped me. I got fired from my job. I am ready to leave for Korea!

Sounds like you have a lot going on. Are you sure that you're going to be any happier living in a foreign country? Seriously think about the reasons you want to do this. A Change in scenery is just a temporary fix. When you make a rash decision because you are running away from something, usually whatever it is will catch up to you in the end.

Q. What is the difference teaching in Korea compared to teaching in Japan.

Korea and Japan are remarkably different. Specifically, in terms of teaching English Korea seems to have a lower cost of living and teachers that come to Korea can save more money and/or have more m9ney for travel, joining a gym,etc.

Korea definitely has a lot to offer in terms of its own unique culture, art and people. It's just not as well-known as Japan and China.

Q. My friend/ Spouse and I want to teach together. Is it possible to find work together?

Basically, Yes. But be aware that you may have to make certain compromises, or else allow yourself more time to find the right opportunity. In the end, you might not get your preferred location. If you can live with that, then Korea is waiting for you with open arms.
